"Merry Christmas!!" -Bushi and me

Its Christmas!! Bushi is jumping to the Google doodle's music. I love that music!

Christmas is celebrated world wide! The word Christmas means ''Christ's mass"
Everyone waits very eagerly for this festival. They enjoy this a lot!
They even call this as "Happy Holidays". We have winter break in these days and enjoy a lot!

Bushi was really happy to get his gifts, "Cat food"!

"Christmas is a state of mind when you cherish peace and goodwill.
The real spirit of Christmas is to have mercy, love and faith
Merry christmas"

Celebration-

Christmas Day is celebrated as a major festival and public holiday in countries around the world, including many whose populations are mostly non-Christian. In some non-Christian countries, periods of former colonial rule introduced the celebration (e.g. Hong Kong); in others, Christian minorities or foreign cultural influences have led populations to observe the holiday. Countries such as Japan and Korea, where Christmas is popular despite there being only a small number of Christians, have adopted many of the secular aspects of Christmas, such as gift-giving,
decorations and Christmas trees.

Christ was born in a manger. After his birth, that manger became a place of worship! There came the wise men, sheppards, angels, Gabriel and many other important persons.

With this, many say that our heart is a manger and on Christmas the Christ is born in our heart and washes away our sins.

Merry Christmas!!!

"Happy World AIDS Day!" -Bushi and me

Bushi and I wish you a very happy "World AIDS Day!"
Do you know what is AIDS? If you don't, then you must read this! -
AIDS is an acronym for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is a deadly disease which is the last stage of the HIV infection.

HIV causes AIDS.

WHO (World Health Organization) estimates that more than 25 million people (worldwide) died due to this disease, since this disease was discovered.

Treatment-

There is NO cure for AIDS. Prevention is only the way. However, there are medicines which can prolong the life of the person who is effected with AIDS.

Antiretroviral (An agent or process effective against a retrovirus) therapy reduces the replication of HIV virus in our body. A combination of many antiretroviral drugs (medicines) which is called - Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART), has been very effective in reducing the number of HIV particles in the bloodstream.

But remember, even HAART has side effects like-

  • Collection of fat on the back and abdomen.
  • General sick feeling.
  • Headache
  • Nausea (a sick feeling in the stomach)
  • Weakness

*When this medicine is used for a long time, it can even cause Heart Attack.

Prevention of AIDS-

  • Use a clean needle. Make sure that the needle which you are going to use is sterile and don't share it.

  • Stop AIDS to reach the baby from mother. HIV infected mothers can pass the infection to her baby when she is pregnant. Stop this two-thirds by receiving treatments.

There is much more to say on AIDS. If you get it once, it's a great suffering. PREVENT it. Help others to prevent it on World AIDS day!!

Happy Preventing!

Proverb-

Confidence is half of victory.

"Happy Dussehra"-wishes from Bushi and me!

We are really happy today.I am Bushi fought today.I was not friend with him for 2 hours or more.He was biting me as I said in last post. But now we are friends! So I and Bushi are waiting for burning Ravana's head tonight on our terrace.Do you know what is Dussehra?
Dussehra-
One of the popular Hindu festivals, Dussehra is celebrated with pomp and gaiety. Since ages, a number of rituals are performed to please the Almighty, on the ceremonious occasion. It is the climax of the nine-day long celebrations of 'Navratris', which precede it. The festival commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. Apart from the legend from the epic Ramayana, and the story of the triumph of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, a vibrant history is associated with the festival.
It’s celebrated in most parts of India is.The festival is celebrated with zest and festivities as it also marks the beginning of the winter season after the long, unbearable, hot summer. Dussehra marks the victory of Ram over the demon king Ravana, and the rescue of his wife Sita. In north India, gigantic effigies of the ten-headed Ravana and his brothers are set aflame amidst bursting of crackers. Fairs are usually held on this occasion with lots to eat, buy and enjoy.

Dussehra means the Tenth Day, being the 10th day of the bright half of Ashvin. This day is also known as Vijayadashmi, or the Victory Tenth, because of the victory of Ram over Ravana.

In the months of Ashwin and kartik, Hindus observe a 10 day ceremony of fast, rituals, celebrations, feasts to honor the mother Goddess and triumph of Lord Rama over Demon Ravana. Dussehra also symbolizes the triumph of warrior Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon, Mahishasura. Thus, it is a celebration of victory of good over evil.

On the second day, a Devta Durbar or the Council of Gods presided by Raghunathji is held. On the last day, the chariot of Raghunathji is brought to the banks of the river Beas amidst avid ostentation. A heap of wood and grass is set on fire, which is symbolic of the burning of Lanka. Five animals, namely, crab, cock, fish, buffalo and a male goat are sacrificed. This is followed by merry making by the people, as they drink Lugri, a traditional Kullu drink.

Here's how they burn the Ravana's head-

Here's a song which is sung on Dussehra(uploaded by me!)-

This is a song from a movie named Shakthi. It is the
same aigiri nandini but the rhythm is different.

"Happy Indenpendence Day"- Bushi

Do you see all the colors of Indian flag here? Branch in white,Bushi in green and speech bubble in orange!
Bushi is happy that he is green and our Indian flag has green color.I am happy to get prize in the school!

And here's some information on India's Independence day!-

The British who came for trade in India occupied the entire country and started ruling the country. They used India as the land of raw material to supply industries in Britain. They forced the farmers of India to grow cash crops such as Indigo instead of food crops and because of this Indians didn’t have food to eat. People were asked to pay high taxes. The British destroyed the Indian cloth mills by making brighter and colorful cloths and selling it back to the Indians at a very low price thereby destroying the local cloth industry.

The army was forced to use the Enfield rifle and the bullets of this rifle were made from the cow and pig fats.Hindus worshiped cow as gods and Muslims had rumors on pigs so they didn't like to use this rifle. As such the army people started Sipoy Mutiny in 1857 under the leadership of Mangal Pandey and here onwards the freedom movement started in India and continued up to 1947.
Old enfield rifle

The processes of freedom struggle took at least 100 years with the leadership of different freedom fighters. Some of the important events of the freedom struggle which we should remember on this auspicious movement are-

The Boycott and Swadeshi Movement
which occurred in Delhi in 1905

Non-Cooperation Movement
which was done in 1920, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.

Salt Satyagraha and Civil dis-obedience movement
which began with the Dandi March on March 12, 1930

Quit India movement
this movement was launched on August 8, 1942 in Mumbai.

Partition of India
which was one of the worst movements of people, it occurred on August 15, 1947.

India got its independence from the clutches of British rule on 15th August 1947. It was this day when India’s tricolor flag was unfolded by Pandit Nehru on the barricades of the Red Fort at Delhi. Each and every patriotic soul watched this event with excitement and paid tribute to thousands of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.
Independence Day is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs all over the country. The main program is held at the Red Fort where the Prime Minster unfurls the National Flag and it is saluted by Guns.

The Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is a major highlight. Patriotic presentations by school children add colors to the celebrations.
Similar programs are held all over the country.
